I started college as an honors math major. My first math class was theoretical calculus. The goal of the year long course was to write a proof that 0+0=0, then 0+1=1, and so on, and so forth until we proofed all the way to calculus. I was surrounded by Good Will Hunting type kids, wondering how I found myself here. My dorm was next to the fine art building. I walked by forlornly, peeking into the labs and studios, wondering what went on in those classes. I finished college never setting foot in that building. This painting is homage to my path, combining how I see the world, and how my fellow mathletes viewed the world. “Pixel,” is a 12”x48” sprayed acrylic on canvas painting featuring metallic gold and soft jewel tones.
